(80 days) Introduced by the Iowa Seed Company in 1913, Table Queen winter squash is a green-shelled acorn variety squash. Table Queen weigh about 2-3 pounds when mature and are about seven inches in diameter. Very prolific vining type acorn squash that will keep your root cellar full. Like most acorn squash table queen is a fantastic keeper. Pull them out of the root cellar on a winter day for warm, buttery acorn squash soup or bake them with a touch of honey and butter. This was not only a premier homesteading squash, but Table Queen’s parentage was handed down by the American Indians. These squash have very thick outer shells which are like natural containers keeping the buttery insides fresh even as long as 6 months after harvest in some cases!
