(50-75 days) One of the best slicing cucumbers around! With its light green thin skin and mild flavor it’s not necessary to peel or seed, just enjoy. Technically a melon, the Armenian cucumber still looks and tastes much like a common cucumber, and will add excellent flavor and a unique look to your salads.
Native to Armenia, the cultivation of this variety can be dated back to the 15th Century, which puts it into the category of “ancestral” varieties. (Ancestral takes greater historical precedent over heirloom). Ancestral varieties were introduced into the human diet when the only foods eaten were either whole or unprocessed, making them easier to digest and metabolize, and generally predating the 19th century.
